What makes us a sustainable company
Updated: May 1, 2022
Sustainability is a popular topic at the moment, and it is becoming even more popular as we continue to see frequent and drastic effects that climate change has on our environment.
Plastic straws were officially banned in 2018 and today, this move is seen as an indicator of how the events industry can make simple changes to help reduce their impact on the world. While there is a large amount of positive change, we believe that not enough is being done by individual companies in the events industry to tackle waste, recycling and carbon emissions. Both Reece and I have seen first-hand the amount of needless waste that goes to landfill when an event has finished. We were shocked by it and decided we wanted to start a company that took that responsibility seriously.
We promise to always use the most sustainable options in our decision-making and to be transparent about which processes we use.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
Reduce We plant 25 trees after every event which means we offset 0.5 tonnes of carbon, in a bid to reduce our carbon emissions. Our trees are currently in Changalane, Mozambique. We keep all of our equipment, containers and other items in good condition, so we can avoid buying anything new unless absolutely necessary. Recycle All of our products are 100% recyclable. We aim for minimum waste and make sure all waste is disposed of appropriately. We use a reduced amount of plastic and we are always on the look out for non-plastic alternatives, particularly in drinks packaging. Different types of plastic are much more difficult to recycle, so because of this, we never use single-use plastic and reduce our plastic usage to an absolute minimum.
Bar None is built from reclaimed wood.
Our bar is built from wooden pallets which would have otherwise been scrapped. Our logo is burnt onto the front using an eco-friendly wood burner, which not only creates a beautiful rustic effect but avoids the printing of plastic vinyl stickers.
Sustainability is at the core of our company and we are always looking for innovative ways to keep our waste and carbon footprint down. If you have any ideas or you have a sustainable company of your own, please contact us.
